I Killed My BFF: The Preacher's Daughter

This project was assigned to me on a very tight deadline. Fortunately, the film was well shot and was steeped in symbolism that is the stuff of editors’ dreams. I was able to draw on some of the more dramatic scenes and stong visuals to create a complex and impactful spot. To tie it all together, I used a sound bite from the film’s anti-hero (the preacher’s daughter) that summarizes the paradox of good vs. evil that’s at the core of the story. When you only have 30 seconds to tell a story, you use the most meaningful dialogue you can to tell the story, but you need to expand the meaning even further with your visual storytelling. This is a skill that only comes with experience.
