Of all the promos I’ve worked on, I’ve never received more praise than for this “Murder-In-Law” promo. However, I have a confession to make. This was also one of the easiest concepts to come up with. My producer and I watched the movie together on a Friday afternoon, and when I saw the scene about the meat tenderizer, I knew what we had to do. Rather than telling my producer what I was thinking, I took 15 minutes to put together a quick stringout and showed him. He loved it, and after spending several hours on it in the following weeks, we had a great spot. In the end, everyone loved it, and it was quickly approved. Sometimes the best ideas can be the ones that just whack you in the head.
